Tânia Neves is the founder of unusual voyages, a project born from years of travelling, photographing and listening to people in some of the world’s most remote places. After more than a decade working in the travel industry, she created unusual voyages to offer something different — authentic expeditions that value connection, curiosity and respect above everything else.

The idea grew from her experiences as a documentary photographer and tour leader, witnessing how travel can build bridges between cultures when done with care and intention. From small groups sharing tea with nomads in Mongolia to conversations with artisans in the Himalayas, each journey is designed to create genuine encounters and a sense of mutual learning.

Tânia’s vision is simple: travel should be human, responsible and transformative — for both travellers and the communities they visit. unusual voyages reflects that philosophy, combining her field experience, creative background and commitment to cultural understanding into one purpose-driven project.
