Mountains, Wine and Timeless Traditions

GEORGIA

HIGHLIGHT
The Mother of Georgia, or Kartlis Deda, is a towering 20-meter aluminum statue perched atop Sololaki Hill in Tbilisi. Depicting a woman in traditional Georgian attire, she holds a bowl of wine in one hand to welcome friends and a sword in the other to defend against foes, symbolising Georgia’s hospitality and resilience.

Exploring Georgia's Breathtaking Landscapes

Georgia, nestled at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, is a country of breathtaking landscapes, ancient history, and warm hospitality. Known as the cradle of wine, Georgia boasts over 8,000 years of winemaking tradition, with its unique qvevri method—a UNESCO-recognised heritage—still practiced today. Visitors can savour world-class wines made from native grape varieties like Saperavi and Rkatsiteli, paired perfectly with the bold flavours of Georgian cuisine.
The landscapes of Georgia are nothing short of spectacular. Towering peaks of the Caucasus Mountains dominate the horizon, offering breathtaking vistas and a sense of timelessness. Stepantsminda, set at the foot of Mount Kazbek, is home to the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church—a symbol of Georgia’s enduring spirit and connection to its rugged terrain. In contrast, the rolling hills and fertile valleys of Kakheti are adorned with vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see.

History and charm steep Georgia’s towns and cities. Tbilisi, the capital, is a vibrant tapestry of cultures and eras. Its Old Town is a maze of narrow streets lined with colourful balconies, ancient churches, and modern art spaces. Perched above the Alazani Valley, Sighnaghi enchants visitors with its romantic atmosphere, cobblestone streets, and panoramic views of the Caucasus. Gori offers a glimpse into Georgia’s Soviet past as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin.

Georgian cuisine also reflects the soul of Georgia. The country’s food reflects its warm hospitality and deep connection to its land. Dishes like khinkali (savoury dumplings), khachapuri (cheese-filled bread), and lobio (spiced bean stew) are hearty and full of flavour. Georgian wine, an integral part of life here, often accompanies meals, and churchkhela, a sweet treat made from grape must and nuts, concludes them.

Georgia is more than just a destination; it is an experience that stirs the senses. Its dramatic mountains, ancient winemaking traditions, rich history, and welcoming people make it a place that lingers in your heart long after you leave.
