Leaving Chefchaouen behind, we head south. First stop: Volubilis, Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins. Wander among ancient mosaics, columns, and crumbling villas. After soaking in some history, we continue to Fez, one of Morocco’s most fascinating cities. Settle into your riad and get ready for a deep dive into culture.

Today we go deep into Fez’s old medina – a UNESCO World Heritage labyrinth. Walk through spice-scented souks, visit traditional tanneries, step inside beautiful madrasas and mosques, and watch artisans at work. Every corner tells a story. Fez hits all senses at once – it’s chaotic, colourful, and completely addictive.

Early morning departure through the changing landscapes of the Middle Atlas. Watch cedar forests turn into dry plateaus and dusty palm valleys. Reaching Merzouga by afternoon, you’ll swap the van for camels and ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes. Sleep under the desert sky in a traditional Berber camp – a night you’ll never forget.

New Year’s Eve in the middle of the Sahara! Spend the day soaking up desert life – sunrise over the dunes, tea with locals, camel rides or simply chilling. As night falls, we gather around a campfire for a Berber feast, music, and dancing. Midnight surrounded by endless stars, silence, and sand dunes – it doesn’t get more special than this.

Wake up early for a last sunrise in the dunes before heading west. Drive through stunning landscapes – oases, ksars (old fortified villages), and rocky plateaus. Stop at Tinghir and Todra Gorge, famous for its towering cliff walls. We end the day in the spectacular Dades du Gorges, where the mountains twist and fold like an open book.

Morning visit to the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa”, where movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed. Then we head to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar, perfect for wandering through ancient mudbrick alleyways. In the afternoon, we cross part of the Atlas Mountains towards Marrakech.

Today is all about Marrakech. After breakfast, we dive into the heart of the city with a visit to the medina, one of the liveliest in Morocco. Wander through narrow alleys packed with souks selling spices, leather, textiles and crafts. Stop by La Maison de la Photographie, a hidden gem showcasing beautiful vintage photography of Morocco. The afternoon is yours – you might want to relax with a traditional hammam experience or get lost in the vibrant chaos of Jemaa el-Fna square as the evening lights up.

Time to say goodbye. Depending on your flight time, squeeze in some last-minute shopping or a slow coffee before heading to the airport. Leave Morocco with a suitcase full of spices, stories, and stardust from the desert.
